Local arts get boost

HARTFORD --- Department of Economic and Community Development's Connecticut Office of the Arts announced that two local groups received Connecticut Arts Endowments.

The office awarded $500 to Opera New England of NE CT, Inc. in Pomfret and $500 to Theatre of Northeastern Connecticut, Inc. (Bradley Playhouse) in Putnam.

The Connecticut Arts Endowment provides operating support to Connecticut arts organizations that have raised a minimum of $15,000 in private contributions for two consecutive fiscal years.

The Fund was established by the State of Connecticut to stimulate the development of private sector funding and to help stabilize arts institutions.   The Fund is managed by the Office of the State Treasurer and interest earned on the Fund’s principal is distributed annually.
