THOMPSON — At 10 a.m. June 11 the Creation Church is celebrating its 10th Year Anniversary with a Celebration Service followed by a cookout, complete with outdoor worship music.
Founded in 2007 in Southbridge Creation Church began with just six people in a broken-down building and several thousand dollars in debt. Ready to close its doors, this small body of believers prayed that God would give the church one more chance … and He did!
The church immediately relocated to a dance studio in a brick building near the mill in Thompson for three years. Then in 2010 God made a way for them to purchase the former Sacred Heart Church at Thompson Lake on the Thompson Dam.
Today Creation Church is a growing, thriving church with well over 80 families who call it home. Located at 47 West Thompson Road, Creation Church is a nondenominational Christian church whose mission is to create environments where people can pursue a loving relationship with God through Jesus Christ, experience community within, and share the love of Christ without.
A “place of new beginnings”, Creation church seeks to bring the reality of life and the reality of God’s Word together through encouraging Bible studies which involve all facets of life, such as: marriage, parenting, work, money, men’s issues, women’s issues and much more. Sunday mornings are filled with inspiring contemporary Christian music and Christ-centered messages. In addition, a full Sunday School Program, “Creation Kids”, is offered each Sunday and the lively teen program called, “The Rock”, meets monthly.
Pastor Bernie Norman and his wife of 35 years, Gale, have been serving at Creation Church for nearly three years and truly fallen in love with the people of Creation. Prior to serving at Creation Church, Pastor Norman was a pastor for 11 years at Faith Bible Chapel in Westerly, R.I. The Normans also served together for five years with FamilyLife Ministries in Little Rock, Ark. They have four grown children and seven grandchildren. They live in Brooklyn.
