EASTFORD — Did you know there is only one Eastford in the USA? This unique little town in the Quiet Corner of Connecticut will hold Experience Eastford, a town-wide event July 8.
The day includes a Heritage Day event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Eastford Elementary School on Westford Road with free family fun: Live Birds of Prey, Bounce House, Kids Games, Food, Auction, Giveaways. There will also be a Vintage Car Show at Bowen’s from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., a Craft Fair at Coriander Café, and late-day events including a Frog Jump Contest, Bounce House, Cake Walk, Cook-Out and Band Concert - all free -at the Congregational Church from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Bring nonperishable foods or donate to the Eastford Food Pantry. Events are free and will be held rain or shine.
Activities include: Children’s Games, Face Painting, Balloons, Pie eating contest, and Live Music, a Climbing Wall and Bounce House, Horizon Birds of Prey exhibit at 10:15 a.m. including a bald eagle; a Dog-Kissing Contest – Vote for your favorite person. Who will kiss the dog?; Vintage Car Show at Bowen's from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. with awards at 12:30 p.m.; Fire Trucks and Blood Pressure tests at Fire House; a Dog Photo Contest –Is your dog Eastford’s Number 1 Dog? The first prize is the Eastford #1 Dog License. Enter your photo by July 5 at the Eastford Town Office; A Silent Auction with Boston Red Sox memorabilia and more; grand opening of the Florence Warren Latham Museum of Eastford History from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.; a Frog-Jump Contest and Bounce House at the Congregational Church at 5 p.m., followed by free food, music, and an old fashioned cake walk.
