PUTNAM — Putnam Science Academy secured another commitment this week as Abrial Murray (Newington High School) committed to spending a post grad year with the Mustangs. 

The 5-foot, 4-inch guard is coming off a senior year where she averaged 13.8 point per game and led the program to their first CCC appearance in the past decade. 

“Abrial is a great addition to our program. She can really shoot it and will be able to play both guard spots for us. Her work ethic and attitude are exactly what I look for in a player and we’re excited to have her,” said Head Coach Derek Marchione. 

As a sophomore, Murray earned All-CCC and was named to the All- Herald team before tearing her ACL and missing her entire junior year. However, she bounced back from the injury and went onto to have a very successful senior campaign. She was once again named to the All-Herald and All-CCC teams while also earning Honorable Mention All-State and making Hartford Courant’s Fab 15 Honorable mention as well.
