PUTNAM — After sending five forwards to high major division one basketball last season it looks like head coach Tom Espinosa could have the next one in line as 6-foot, 10-inch Christian Alex Lorng committed to the Mustangs for the 2017-18 season.
Lorng who hails from Paris, France, holds current offers from Missouri, Tennessee, Alabama, USF, Creighton, UAB, Houston, Middle Tennessee, UCF.
Lorng worked under coach Xavier Calvaire the past few years in Paris. The true senior will be the second student athlete in as many years from France as last year Alexis Yetna wore the Mustang red and black.
Lorng will immediately add to the Mustangs’ front court and should team up nicely with the returning group and other newcomers in the front court, according to Espinosa.
“We are extremely excited to add a person and player like Christian to the Putnam Science community” said Espinosa. “Christian has a huge upside and we are excited to see him grow to that potential this upcoming year.”
Lorng will have big shoes to step into that Yetna left as the France product last year was first team all Power 5 conference and Espinosa is confident Christian will do so saying “Alexis was great in the community and on the court. We expect the same for Christian this upcoming year.”
