WILLIMANTIC — Eastern Connecticut State University’s Center for Early Childhood Education announced “Animal Kingdom Mega Pack” by Animal Planet has been named the 2017 TIMPANI (Toys that Inspire Mindful Play and Nurture Imagination) Toy. Six Eastern students fulfilled integral roles for the nationally acclaimed study.
Among them was Ayla Heald ’18 of Pomfret Center, who majors in communication. Heald was a communication intern who edited the video about the 2017 study.
Entertains
WILLIMANTIC — Talented percussionists at Eastern Connecticut State University recently entertained audiences that included Eastern students, faculty, staff and local community members at Eastern’s state-of-the-art Fine Arts Instructional Center (FAIC) Concert Hall.
Mackenzie Muscara ’18 of Dayville, who majors in music, played percussion as a part of the Eastern Percussion Ensemble.

WILLIMANTIC — A talented cast of Eastern Connecticut State University students, alumni, faculty and staff recently performed in “Amahl and the Night Visitors” on Dec. 2 to celebrate the holiday season. Composed by Gian Carlo Menotti, the opera tells the story of the Magi from the point of view of a young disabled boy named Amahl and his widowed mother.
Among the cast was Halie Poirier ’18 of Putnam. Poirier majors in music.
