PUTNAM — For the 20th year, Putnam Ford staff helped to spread holiday cheer to local families at their annual “Christmas is for Kids” party Dec. 13.
The party, hosted at the dealership, was attended by more than 100 children and adults from United Services’ human service programs, including the Domestic Violence Program, Center for Autism, and other family-oriented programs, as well as participants in Northeast Opportunities for Wellness (NOW) youth programs.
“Putnam Ford and the employees are really proud and excited to support the children of United Services and NOW Programs with Santa coming and giving all the kids a present. We play games and sing songs and it is quite special night for the kids and us as Christmas is a time to celebrate with family and friends,” said Putnam Ford Vice President Rick Place. “We look forward to this event every year and are very grateful to those organizations allowing us this incredible opportunity!”
The evening’s festivities included holiday crafts and games, caroling, snacks, and of course a grand appearance by Santa and Mrs. Claus, who provided a gift for each child.
“Once again, Rick Place and everyone at Putnam Ford has done a wonderful job making spirits bright for local families,” said John Goodman, director of development and communications at United Services. “Although Northeast Connecticut still has many families struggling to make ends meet throughout the year, thanks to Putnam Ford, dozens of local children and families have a chance to create lasting memories of holiday cheer.”
“It is heartwarming to see the generosity demonstrated by Putnam Ford with the ‘Christmas is for Kids’ event and NOW is truly thankful to be included in this celebration for a second year in a row,” said NOW Executive Director Sarah Wolfburg. “The holidays should be a time of joy and excitement and this event helps bring the magic of the season to the children we serve.”
