WOODSTOCK — In 2018, golfers can enjoy a whole new ball game at the Roseland Golf Course, formerly known as the Woodstock Golf Course. Last October the Trustees of Roseland Park awarded a five-year contract to Mike and Chris Sosik. The Sosik family has been operating the Harrisville Golf Course for the past 17 years.
“It’s a new challenge, as we bring all the knowledge of golf course management, along with the skills and professionalism we’ve developed at Harrisville, over to Roseland,” said Mike.
It’s not just the name and management that are changing. “Improving the turf at Roseland Golf Course is a big priority for us,“ said Mike. Meanwhile, over the winter, Chris put on her HGTV hat, as she and her husband spruced up the clubhouse and renovated the bathrooms. They are also setting up a comprehensive Pro Shop with many brand names at discount prices. The Sosiks hope to obtain a license to serve beer, wine, and eventually ice cream. “We want our customers to feel welcome here,” said Chris, “and to be amazed by the changes we’re making.”
Trustee President John Rauh said, “The Board feels very fortunate to have engaged the Sosiks to run Roseland Golf Course. They have a great reputation, and are both business-like and friendly. We look forward to partnering with them for years to come.”
The 110-acre, 9-hole public course is one of the oldest in the nation. The first match was played in 1896.
The course will open as soon as weather and course conditions allow. Golfers should be pleased with Roseland Golf Course’s reasonable rates, courteous hospitality, and good playing conditions, said Sosik.
