Auto burglaries
PUTNAM — The Putnam Police Department is urging residents to lock their vehicles after a rash of auto burglaries and a stolen motor vehicle.
Police are also looking for any information on suspicious activity June 29 and 30.
June 30 the Putnam Police Department responded to approximately two dozen auto burglaries and a stolen motor vehicle which occurred during the previous overnight hours.
There was no forced entry into any of the vehicles and the vehicles entered were as a result of being left unlocked. The burglaries occurred in residential areas throughout in the Special Services District.
The Putnam Police Department in reminding residents to always lock your vehicles and remove your keys and other valuables from view inside your vehicle or just take them into your home.  “These were crimes of opportunity and if you take away the opportunity by locking your vehicles and removing your valuables, you will certainly reduce the chance of being victimized,” said Police Chief Christopher D. Ferace.
