PUTNAM — The Putnam Police Department is looking for anyone with information on an accident that happened about 5 p.m. Jan. 21 at the intersection of Rt. 171 and West Thompson and Harrisville roads.

Members of the Putnam Police Department, Putnam Fire Department and Putnam EMS responded to a reported motor vehicle accident with injurie.
Putnam Police Chief Christopher D. Ferace said due to the serious nature of the injuries the Connecticut State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit was requested to assist the Putnam Police Department with the investigation. 
The preliminary on-scene investigation revealed that a 1998 Toyota Camry being operated by Teodor Teja, 84, of Woodstock, was traveling westbound on Rt. 171 while a 2011 Subaru Forester being operated by Andre Bouchard, 22,  of Woodstock, was traveling northbound on Harrisville Road. The vehicles collided in the intersection.
Teja was taken to Day Kimball Hospital and then transferred to UMass Hospital for life-threatening injuries. Bouchard was also treated at Day Kimball Hospital for possible minor injuries. 
The accident remains under investigation and no enforcement action has been taken at this time, Ferace said.
