PUTNAM — The American Legion Post #13 had its most successful tournament since the tourney’s inception, according to Brian Maynard. This year the golf tournament was renamed to honor Torpedoman’s Mate Second Class Henry Breault, Putnam’s only Medal of Honor recipient.
Maynard said this year, thanks to sponsors and golfers, the tournament grossed just over $32,000 making it the most successful fund-raiser in the history of American Legion Post #13. Money raised supports Legion programs such as scholarships, Tri-Town baseball, and flags on Memorial Bridge, veteran banners posted around town, Americanism programs throughout Putnam schools, veterans’ affairs and rehabilitation and several local and national charities.
This year’s winning team was sponsored by Big Gary’s Discount Liquors. Coming in with a low score of 58 was Veeral Patel, Ashish Patel, Shailesh Patel and Mitesh Patel.
