Boot drive and donation event set for Feb. 3
The Putnam Fire Department will be hosting a boot drive and donation event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 3 at the department on Church Street.
Why the drive you may ask. Jan. 23 another fire destroyed another home in Putnam leaving a family of three (a father and two children, ages 7 and 11) as well as a dog with no place to live as well as a total loss of the home’s contents.
Firefighters will accept monetary donations as well as donations of new toys for the kids, dog treats and dog toys.
They will also collect clothing.
Fire Chief Bob Campbell said, “They are looking for size large women’s clothing like leggings, shirts and sweatshirts. Size 7 1/2-8 shoes for women. Boy clothing size 7- he pretty much needs everything. Shoes size 13-1. and men’s clothing: size 36 pants, extra-large shirts, 10 1/2 shoes, and if we can get some personal items and toys and games for the kids, they are going to see there is a lot of support in this community.”
