THOMPSON --- Army Reserve Sgt. Brian J. Esip has been mobilized and activated for deployment overseas to a forward operating base in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Esip, an imagery analyst, is normally assigned to the 323rd Military Intelligence Battalion, Fort Meade, Md. He has three years of military service. He is the son of Melba D. Esip of Thompson. The sergeant received a bachelor's degree in 1990 from the University of Massachusetts, N. Dartmouth.
Operation Iraqi Freedom is the official name given to military operations involving members of the U.S. armed forces and coalition forces participating in efforts to free and secure Iraq. Mission objectives focus on force protection, peacekeeping, stabilization, security and more.
