POMFRET --- The Griffin Youth Hockey Association closed out the 2009-2010 season with its first annual cross ice 3 vs. 3 Tournament.
More than 150 players of all ages from Connecticut and Mass participated and the action was non-stop from the Mites to the Bantams.
Teams with names such as the Cereal Killers and Goalies Gone Wrong and the always present Hanson Bothers were competing.
Each team has four players but only three play at one time.
There are three games occurring simultaneously as the ring is divided into three smaller rinks.
Each game consists of a non-stop eight minute period with players trying to shoot the puck into a goal so small it resembled a rodent trap.
At the conclusion of the five games each team played the winner is announced.
The March 6 winners:
Mite A Division
Team Redwing – Gabe Geyer, Yves Geyer, Sonny Nielson and Jack Gillin.
Mite B Division
Team USA – Matthew Myers, Rory White, Danny Sheerhan and Jack Boyd.
Squirt A Division
The Hanson Brothers – Nicholas Alessandro, Jack Jellison., Bruce Dexter II and Zach Gagnon.
Squirt B Division
The Eagles – Thomas Dill, Anthony Gill, Kyle Spurr and Casey Kumpey
Pee-Wee Division
The Four Musketeers – Evan Cunningham, Nathan Deluca, Dylan Machado and Jack Liggett
Bantam Division
The Fearsome Foursome – Corey Hetu, Nathan Miller, Gabe Phelan and Danny Vigeant.
