PUTNAM — On March 17, the Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA) will present Putnam Bank with the third-place award in its Bricks & Mortar Photo Contest. The winning image of Putnam Bank’s main office will be part of a 2010 ICBA marketing campaign showcasing community banks’ presence on America’s main streets.
“We’re delighted that our branch earned recognition for its visual appeal,” said Putnam Bank CEO Thomas A. Borner. “ICBA has nearly 5,000 member banks. To be highlighted out of such a large group is another example of the pride we take in everything we do.”
“Appearances are important. We want our branches to add to the beauty and attractiveness of the communities we serve,” said Janet D. Richmond,  assistant vice president and branch manager for the Putnam main office. “The first impression people receive of the bank is the grounds and exterior. From start to finish, we want every aspect of banking with Putnam to be pleasant and winning.”
The award-winning photograph, which appears on the Putnam Bank website (click on “About PB,” then go to “Locations and Hours”) shows the 40 Main Street building in the spring with flowering trees bursting with color on two sides of the branch.
The ICBA marketing campaign will debut at the 2010 ICBA National Convention and Techworld, March 17-21 in Orlando, Fla. Taking first place was Meredith Village Savings Bank in Meredith, N.H. Second place went to First State Bank Southwest in Worthington, Minn.
Putnam Bank, originally chartered in 1862, is a $479.7 million federally chartered and insured stock bank.
