PUTNAM --- Putnam Bank  joined community bankers throughout the nation in April  to celebrate Community Banking Month. This year, as in the past, community bankers across the state made a combined effort to discuss with the public the important economic and social contribution their banks make in their hometowns.
As part of this month-long celebration, Putnam Bank hosted events at each branch to provide an opportunity to raise awareness and support for community groups.
The following groups were hosted by the branches: the Putnam Main Office hosted Hospice & Palliative Care of NECT and the Hospice Children’s “Good Grief Group;” Putnam Price Chopper highlighted Habitat for Humanity of NE CT; Plainfield hosted Local Food Banks - PIN (People-In-Need) Project & Angel Food Ministries; Danielson welcomed Friends of Assisi; Pomfret hosted the Pomfret Senior Center; Griswold showcased United Community and Family Services (UCFS); Gales Ferry held a free blood pressure screening with Ledyard Nursing.
These local groups were given the opportunity to teach the community more about themselves and more. “We are proud of our community and we are dedicated to serving the citizens and businesses that reside and operate here,” said Thomas A. Borner, Putnam Bank chairman and CEO.
“As a community bank, we are uniquely committed to the local area, and our focus lies in helping our community to grow and prosper.  We see Community Banking Month as an opportunity to highlight what makes us special – our commitment to giving back to the community we serve.”
