The Little League All Star Tournament started on a high note for the Putnam squads. The 9/10 year old team traveled to Brooklyn on the 25th and pulled off an 8-2 win. Scott Davagian started on the mound for Putnam going 2 1/3 innings and giving up only one run. Ryan Whitehouse came in for relief and Jakob Prescott closed the game. Aiden Ciquera was flawless behind the plate catching all 6 innings and led the offense with three hits. Whitehouse smacked a base clearing triple that broke open a six run fifth. Adam Saucier, Jacob Brule, Conor Quinn and Mitchell Barylski all hit the ball hard and scored runs.
The 11/12 year old All Stars looked like a well oiled machine on Saturday, rolling over the Woodstock team 6-2. Defense was the story of the game with Kristian Burke, Cole Andersen,Brevon Harmon and Shawn Audet all turning in Web Gem plays to stop every rally that Woodstock tried to muster. Audet had a bare hand snag of a ground ball and a quick put out to end the first inning with a runner at third. Andersen made a catch at the fence and a throw home to stop a runner from tagging at third base. Harmon had three put outs from second base and Burke made the final game saver with the bases loaded in the last inning. He raced under a sure double and made the catch look easy as he ended any hope of a comeback for Woodstock. Kyle Ciquera drove in Putnam’s first two runs with a homerun into the parking lot (sorry about that dent Mr T). Josh Allard turned a double into a triple with his hit to the fence and his blazing speed. Nathan Tozzi had a solid 2-2 day, Nicholas Foucault got the win on the mound and was relieved by Jacob Guertin and Shawn Audet. Tournament games will be held on the June 28, 29 and  July 2 at Murphy Park.
