The Connecticut 14u Cougars playing their final three games of the season against two strong, first-placed AAU teams.  Pool play for the New England Championship starts July 8.
The Cougars split their double header June 26 with first-place Super Division Rhode Island Bulldogs. 
The Cougars won the opener 8- 5, while losing the second game 4-3.  Both teams started the first game with plenty of offense as all but one run was scored in the first 2 1/2 innings.  Dan Murphy pitched the first 4 innings for the win.  Will Bourgeois closed the game for the Cougars, yielding no hits or walks in the final 3 innings while striking out 5 Bulldogs.  Murphy also went 2-3 with three RBI, while Bourgeois and Robert Newton each had a hit and an RBI.
The Cougars lost the second game 4-3 and were hurt by an error with the bases loaded in the first inning which led to three unearned runs.  Jesse Alexander pitched the final five innings  giving up only one hit and one run.  The Cougars left the tying run on third in the final inning for the tough loss.
June 27 the Cougars lost a tough game  to the first place Open Division Central Mass Mustangs.  It took 13 innings for the Mustangs to finally put away the Cougars by the final score of 9-7.  The Cougars received very good pitching from seven different pitchers, but it was the nine errors which led to their defeat.  Kyle Newman led the offense with three hits, while Robert Newton and Ben Stoopek each amassed two hits.
