June 24, Tri Town had another big win against Niantic at the Tourtellotte Memorial High School baseball field. The score was 9-7.
Zak Kozy had a big day at the plate; Zak was 2 for 4 with a single and a double driving in four runs in the first ans second innings. Dylan Duval also had a single and a double, and drove in two runs. Mike Olm had good day as well, going 2 for 2 and scoring three times.
Joel Jezierski had his first start of his American Legion Baseball career, and got the win with four innings pitched. Joel kept the Niantic hitters off balance, and enjoyed the good defense Tri Town displayed for the second night in a row. Jimmy Sullivan gets his first save, in his first attempt, Sullivan was brought into the game in the seventh with runners on base and he stuck out one and induced two ground ball outs to get Tri Town out of a seventh-inning jam. Tri Town took the Niantic series 2 games to 1.
Earlier in the week, the Tri Town team had a big win over the Niantic team, 1-0.
Ross Lincoln doubled in the top of the 11th inning, advanced to third on a wild pitch, and scored on another wild pitch. That was the winning run.
Paul Lindstom pitched five strong innings, battling the flu, as well as the Niantic team. In the 10th inning Paul took a line drive off his ankle, which deflected to Dan Arudel who made a strong throw to first for the out. In the bottom of the 11th Lindstrom took another line drive off his pitching arm, but continued his gutsy battle and got the win.
Several outstanding defensive plays by the Tri-Town defense was the difference in this game.
