PUTNAM --- The Theatre of Northeastern Connecticut at the Bradley Playhouse showcases an evening of original theatre when it presents the 2010 Playwright Festival. Performances are at 8 p.m. Sept. 10 and 11. All seats are $10.This production is not part of the regular Bradley season, so season and flex passes can not be used.
According to Scott Guerin, executive director of the Festival, the Blockbuster Playwright Festival started in 2006, as a way to "bring new, unpublished scripts to the stage to showcase “local” talent. In 2010, we received almost 50 scripts from all over the U.S."This evening of light-hearted entertainment consists of six one-act plays, each written by a different playwright and directed by local directors: “Tricks of the Trade” by Robert C. Latino (Brookfield, MA), “Jump” by George J. Bryjak (Bloomingdale, NY), “Johnny & Linda” by Paul Bowman (New Albany, IN), “Marsha’s Job Interview” by Nicole Panteleakos (Plainfield), “Pulling the Plug” by Karen Hartline (Oakland, CA) and “Mrs. Invisible” by Robert L. Hecker (Sherman Oaks, CA). The casts include familiar Bradley performers. 860-928-7887. Tickets are also available at the door.
