Yee M. Cheng,

DANIELSON — Yee M. Cheng, 83, of Waterman Street died Aug. 31, 2010, in Regency Heights. He was the husband of Ngor Y. (Lau) Cheng. Born in 1927 in Fuzhou, China, he was the son of the late Mui Ng Cheng.
Mr. Cheng immigrated to America in 1978 and in partnership with his family founded the Jade Garden Restaurants of Danielson and Putnam.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his sons, William “Bill” Cheng (Sarah) of Danielson, and Sam Cheng ( Sau Ching) of Brooklyn; daughter Amy Siow (Dennis) of Silver Springs Md., and Mui Wah Chan (Zee Huang) of Long Island, N.Y.; his sister, Ying Chu of China; grandchildren, Kathy Cheng, Jason G. Cheng, Kyle Cheng and Jaden Cheng.
The service was Sept. 3 in Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church St., Putnam, with burial in Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree, Mass. Donations: Day Kimball Hospital Oncology Department, PO Box 632, Putnam, CT 06260.
Dennis Willard Jr.,

DAYVILLE — Dennis J. Willard Jr. 36, of Kenneth Drive, died Sept. 1, 2010 at home after a year long battle with cancer. He was the husband of Crystal (Courtemanche) Willard. He was born Sept. 27, 1973, in Putnam, son of Dennis Willard and Paula Lambert. Dennis was a truck driver and enjoyed his work. He had also worked for Quikrete. He enjoyed fishing, working on cars, helping others
In addition to his wife Crystal he leaves, a son Tyler Willard of Dayville; daughter Breonna Willard of Dayville; a stepdaughter Karissah Broughton; his father Dennis Willard; mother Paula Lambert and Sonny Tarr who was a father to him; grandparents Paul and Jacqueline Lambert, Red and Theresa Tatro; sisters Candace Hoffman of Dayville and Stephanie Willard of Danielson.
The Funeral was Sept. 4 at Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds St., Danielson. Donations: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Susan Godfrey,

WOODSTOCK — Susan Conant (Malsch) Godfrey, 91, of Woodstock, died Aug. 30, 2010, at the Radius Healthcare Center in Southbridge, following a long illness. She was the wife of the late J. Edwin Godfrey Jr. who died in 2001.
She was born in Providence, the daughter of the late Andrew and Edna (Conant) Malsch.
Susan grew up in Cranston, R.I., lived for a time in Schenectady, N.Y., and West Hartford, before moving to Woodstock in 1970. She was a 1937 graduate of Cranston High School and a 1941 graduate of the University of New Hampshire. She worked for many different companies in administration, and prior to her retirement, worked as a secretarial assistant in her husband’s industrial sales agency. She was a member, and held various positions of leadership and responsibility, in the First Congregational Church of Woodstock, the Day Kimball Hospital Woman’s Board of Directors, the Woodstock Garden Club, and the American Association of University Woman. She was also an avid golfer and was a member of the Quinnatisset Golf Club in Thompson.
She leaves two sons: Joseph E. Godfrey III (Carol) of Bronxville, N.Y., and Chester J. Godfrey (Susan) of Charlton; four grandchildren.
The Funeral was Sept. 5 at the First Congregational Church of Woodstock, with burial at Woodstock Hill Cemetery. Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, Southbridge.
Anthony R. Harwood
DANIELSON — Anthony R. Harwood, infant son of Ronald W. Harwood Jr. and Melanie (Ginese) Harwood of Francis St, died Aug. 31, 2010, in UMass Memorial Hospital.
In addition to his parents, Anthony leaves his twin brother, Andrew Harwood; his maternal grandparents, Kevin and Robin Ide of Dayville, and Mark and Cathy Ginese of Shrewsbury, Mass.; his paternal grandparents, Rod and Sharon Ashley of Putnam; his uncle, Joey Ginese of Danielson; and his aunt, Theresa Rogers of Hudson, Mass.
The Funeral was Sept. 7 with burial in Westview Cemetery. Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church St., Putnam.
Geraldine Morar,

DANIELSON — Geraldine A. (Kidd) Morar, 46, formerly of Youngstown, Ohio, died Sept. 2, 2010, in UMass Memorial Hospital, Worcester, after a battle with cancer.. Born in 1964 in Youngstown, she was the daughter of the Grace Browning of Danielson.
In addition to her mother, she leaves her sons, David Kidd, Matthew “MJ” Kidd, and Roger W. Maxwell Jr. all of Connecticut; her stepdaughters, Crystal Maxwell and Connie Maxwell of Connecticut; brothers, Alex Fusco, Ronnie Fusco, and Charlie Fusc, all of Ohio; sister, Amber Fusco of Struthers, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; her companion Bruce Barbeau.
A Memorial Service will be announced later. Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church St., Putnam.
Rita T. Briere
PUTNAM — Rita (LaFlamme) Briere, 84, of Emond Street, died Sept. 5, 2010, in Day Kimball Hospital. She was the wife of the late Alfred J. Briere. Born in 1925 in N. Grosvenordale, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Leosa (Duquette) LaFlamme.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Sept. 9 in Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church St., Putnam. A gathering will begin at 9 a.m. Sept. 10 at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Church of the Visitation, Putnam, with burial in St. Mary Cemetery.
Rose Juszczyk,
WWII vet
PUTNAM - Rose B. (Liguz) Juszczyk, 89, formerly of Fairmount Street, died Aug. 30, 2010, in Lanessa Extended Care, Webster. Her husband, Walter Juszczyk Sr., died in 1975.
She was born and raised in Killingly, a daughter of Walter and Annie (Pawelec) Liguz. She moved to Putnam in 1959. She attended Killingly High School.
She was a WAC in the Army Air Corps during WWII. She was a life member of the Putnam American Legion Post 13.
Mrs. Juszczyk was a parts order girl at the American Optical Company, first in Putnam and then in Southbridge, before retiring in 1983. She was a member of St. Mary of the Visitation Church.
She leaves a daughter, Barbara Ann Luther (Edward); a son, Walter Juszczyk Jr. (Heather (DeJager)), all of Thompson; a granddaughter, Alyssa Louise Juszczyk. She was predeceased by three brothers, Frank, Henry and John Liguz, and by two sisters, Amelia Liguz and Cecilia Przelomski.
