Vivian C. Houle,
former teacher
TREASURE ISLAND, Fla. — Vivian C. Houle, 70, of Treasure Island, formerly of Alexander’s Lake, Dayville, died Oct. 24, 2010, at home. She was the spouse of Rachel Doucette and they enjoyed 29 years together. Born Jan. 5, 1940 in Webster, she was the daughter of the late Alcide and Eva (LaFlamme) Houle.
Vivian spent her childhood in N. Grosvenordale, graduated valedictorian from Tourtellotte Memorial High School and Annhurst College in Woodstock, and completed her master’s degree at UConn. She moved to Florida 20 years ago.
Ms. Houle worked for the Putnam school system as a foreign language teacher for 28 years, specializing in French. Vivian had a gift for drawing even the shyest out of their shell, paid attention to all present and warmed them with her sunny smile. She loved to travel and enjoyed the casinos.
In addition to Rachel, she leaves her brothers, Lawrence Houle of Brooklyn, Fabien Houle and Lionel Houle of Webste; nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Armand Houle; and her sisters, Belva Paradis and Leona LaRose.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit at 9 a.m. Nov. 13 in Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church St., Putnam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary Church, Putnam. Burial follows in All Hallows Cemetery, Moosup. Kevin J. Kilborn,

WOODSTOCK — Kevin “KK” Kilborn, 52, of Peake Brook Road, died Nov. 7, 2010, in Day Kimball Hospital. He was the husband of Sue (Nelson) Kilborn. Born in 1957 in Webster, he was the son of the Lorraine (Mason) Kilborn, and the late George Kilborn Jr.
Mr. Kilborn worked as a carpenter for Quinebaug Construction. He was a talented musician who played the guitar, banjo, dobro and Grandma’s organ. His Passion was music. He played in several local bands including R.O.A.D., The New Polish Cowboy, and Tripp Road. He enjoyed gardening, growing hot peppers, cooking and kayaking.
In addition to his wife and mother, he leaves his brother, Ronald Kilborn of Norfolk, Va.; sisters, Susan LaBonte of Woodstock, Linda Seele of Moosup, Laurie Swenson of Putnam, and Lisa Durand of N. Grosvenordale. He was predeceased by his daughter, Aliza LeBeau.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 5 to 8 p.m. Nov. 10 at Valade Funeral Home, 23 Main St., N. Grosvenordale. A gathering will begin at 10 a.m. Nov. 11, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, N. Grosvenordale. Burial will be later in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Normand A. Roberge,
Vietnam vet
E. KILLINGLY — Normand A. Roberge, 61, of Burlingame Road, died Nov. 5, 2010, at home. He was the husband of Beatrice (Mathurin) Roberge. They were married June 7, 1969. He was born Sept. 5, 1949, in Putnam, son of the late Armand J. and Pauline M. (Tetreault) Roberge.
Mr. Roberge was a Vietnam veteran having served in the U.S. Marine Corps and later serving in the Army Reserve during Operation Desert Storm. He worked at American White Cross in Dayville for 18 years and most recently for International Paper. He was a communicant of St. James Church in Danielson, member of the VFW Post 1523 in Putnam, member of the Knights of Columbus and the Danielson Lodge of Elks 1706.
Besides his wife he leaves his children, Melissa A. Cacciapuoti (Joseph T.) of Dayville and Brian J. Roberge of Norman, Okla.; two sisters, Rita Laberge (Robert) of Woonsocket, and Irene Ondrasek (John) of Webster; four grandchildren, Jocelyn, Johnathan, Faith-Ann and Aaron (AJ).
The Mass of Christian Burial is at 11 a.m. Nov. 11 at St. James Church, Danielson, with burial with full military honors at Holy Cross Cemetery, Danielson. Donations: The Oncology Department at Day Kimball Hospital, P.O. Box 632, Putnam, CT 06260. Tillinghast Funeral Home, Danielson.
Russell Bugbee,

ALBION, N.Y. --- Russell Bugbee, 31, of Albion, formerly of Windham, died Oct. 22, 2010, from injuries received in an automobile accident. He was born on July 11, 1979, in Willimantic and was a 1997 graduate of Windham Regional Vocational Technical School. In May of 1999, Russell graduated from Johnson & Wales University of Culinary Arts. He had been employed as the head chef at Alex’s Place in Batavia, N.Y., and had previously worked at several restaurants including The Harvest in Pomfret. Russell loved traveling, cooking, his friends, golf and hot wings! He hated snow.
He leaves his mother Donna Denis (Gene) of Windham; father Harold Bugbee (Juanita) of Danielson; sister Christine Cournoyer (Jeremy) of Lebanon; three stepsisters, two stepbrothers. He was predeceased by his grandmother Mary Arnott.
The Funeral Mass was Nov. 4 at St. Joseph Church, Willimantic, with interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Windham. Potter Funeral Home, Willimantic.
Marjorie Koschwitz,

WOODSTOCK — Marjorie B. Koschwitz, 85, of Woodstock died Nov. 5, 2010, at Webster Manor, Webster. She was the wife of Alexander H. Koschwitz. He died Dec. 7, 2003. She was born Dec. 17, 1924, in Winsted, daughter of the late Edward and Lydia C. (Smith) Minor.
During WWII she worked for the Winsted Clock Factory. Marjorie loved gardening, genealogy, maintaining her home and all of her flowers. She worked with her husband in the flower business at Woodstock Gardens for many years and enjoyed traveling and vacationing with him.
She leaves two daughters, Barbara Green (Kenny) of Woodstock, Joan Bennett (Michael) of Woodstock; grandchildren Jeffrey Lewis Jr. (Cheryl), Julieann Lewis, Irish Phillips (Neal), William McMahon; step-grandchildren David Green, Angela Barlow, Kenneth F. Green and great-grandchildren Krystina, Jozzlynn, Michel, Natasha.

Janet Chapdelaine,

DUDLEY — Janet M. (Parczych) Chapdelaine, 61, of Oxford Avenue, died Nov. 3, 2010, after being stricken ill.
She was born in Southbridge and raised in Quinebaug, the oldest daughter of Chester C. and Sophie W. (Pietluck) Parzych, whom she affectionately called “jaju” and “babci.” She graduated from Tourtellotte Memorial High School in N. Grosvenordale. She lived in Dudley for several years.
She was currently working in marketing for Karl Storz in Charlton and Sturbridge. She enjoyed cooking and shopping.
She leaves a son, Randy J. Chapdelaine (Ashley) of Worcester; a grandson, Noah Chet Kairu Chapdelaine; two sisters: Barbara Russo of Dudley and Nancy Gaska of Binghamton, N.Y.; her longtime companion, Alan S. Rusack of Dudley.
Memorial calling hours were Nov. 9 in Scanlon Funeral Service, Webster. Donations: Charity of the donor’s choice.
Vincent Jardine,
Air Force pilot
LAKELAND, Fla. — Vincent R. Jardine, 80, of Applegate Drive, died Nov. 8, 2010, at Day Kimball Hospital, Putnam.
He was born in Manhatten, N.Y., son of the late Joseph and Ethel (Smith) Jardine. He was a pilot in the U.S. Air Force and was a retired retail merchandise manager.
He leaves his wife, Dolores (Karpman) Jardine of Lakeland; three sons, Miles Freedman of Woodstock, Mark Freedman of Melorose, Mass., and Jack Freedman of Indianapolis; three daughters, Jeri Freedman of Malden, Mass., Liz Jardine of San Diego, and Susan Jardine-McCarthy of Chicago; three grandchildren.

Sonja Schmidt,

PLAINFIELD --- Sonja Marie (Reynolds) Schmidt , 71, of Plainfield died Nov. 4, unexpectedly, at Hartford Hospital.
She is predeceased by her parents Morris and Virginia Reynolds. Sonja was born July 20, 1939, in Lubec, Maine. She graduated from Lubec High School where she was a cheerleader and band member. Due to her talented trumpet playing, she was chosen to perform in Canada in a talent group. After graduating high school, Sonja moved to Washington, D.C. and accepted a secretarial position at the Pentagon.
Sonja then married, moved to Connecticut where she settled after having eight children. Sonja was the master of all - talented cook, gardener, singer, musician
Sonja leaves two sons and six daughters: Kevin Schmidt (Vicki) of Moosup., Robert Schmidt (Becky) of Brooklyn., Tammy Jordan (Steve) of Moosup., Kelley LaCombe of Norwich., Kathy Wood (Norman) of Putnam., Karen Clark (Tim) of Eastford., Kim Schmidt of Putnam, Kyla Streb (Karl) of Danielson; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Thomas J. Kilinsky
THOMPSON — Thomas J. Kilinsky, 71, of the N. Grosvenordale section of Thompson, died Nov. 4, 2010, in Day Kimball Hospital, Putnam, after a long illness.
He was born in Worcester and raised in Webster and Dudley, the son of John and Irene (Katrenak) Kilinsky. He lived in the Webster-Dudley area for most of his life, moving to N. Grosvenordale about five years ago. He graduated from Bartlett High School in Webster and earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Nichols College in Dudley.
Mr. Kilinsky was a certified life underwriter and a special services manager for the American Mortgage Protection Insurance Agency in Wareham, Mass., retiring recently because of illness.
He enjoyed fishing, rock collecting and also coin collecting.
He leaves his former wife and caregiver, Beverly A. Carliell, with whom he lived; a sister, Patricia Davis of Whitinsville, Mass.; and a niece, Darlene Davis of Thompson.
