PUTNAM --- The Putnam High School Lady Clippers won the in their first found of the state tournament, but a couple days later, lost to East Granby, ending the season.
Feb. 28, in the first round, Putnam beat Goodwin Tech, 50-22. Putnam lead from start to finish. The leading scorers were: Monica Phongsa with 12 points; Ashley Espinosa with 10 points and 10 rebounds and Erin Konicki with eight points.
At the end of that game, Putnam's record stood at 18-6.
March 3, in the second round of the state tournament, East Granby walked away with the win, 41-18.
Willie Bousquet, the PHS girls' basketball head coach, said East Granby jumped out to a 9-4 first quarter lead which expanded to 25-10 at half.
Putnam was lead by Erin Konicki with seven points.
Putnam's final record was 18-7.
The CSC named its all stars and three Putnam players took honors there: Ashley Espinosa was named to the First Team. Erin Konicki was named to the Second Team and Regan Guillot took an Honorable Mention record.
Clipper seniors Konicki, Guillot, Kat Lamoureux, and Steph Baumuller will play in the Rotary Senior Basketball Game at 6 p.m. March 22 at Putnam High.

March 2: Making the first appearance in the NEPSAC tournament, the Lady Knights were defeated by the Lady Wolves of Tilton, 51-42. Falling behind early, the Knights worked their way back into the game in the second half. Paced by sophomore Sydney Latour and junior Melanie Mills, the Knights pulled within 9 points with two minutes remaining. The Knights finished the season with a 19 and 9 record.
