WOODSTOCK — Woodstock Academy Senior Valerie Voccio was recently crowned Connecticut’s Distinguished Young Woman.
In addition to winning cash scholarships Valerie also won four additional categories; Fitness, Talent, Self Expression and the Spirit award.
Valerie is active in school, as well as the community.
She is a member of Woodstock Academy’s vocal performance group, the Hill Singers, earned the Outstanding Achievement in Chemistry award, honor roll recognition, and volunteers at Day Kimball Hospital. She is an active member of her church and is employed at The Trink-et Shoppe in Danielson.
Valerie will attend the national competition in Mobile, Alabama in June.
There she will compete among contestants from all 50 states.
In addition to cash scholarships, the winner is eligible for college granted scholarships.
While preparing for the national competition Valerie will be representing Connecticut’s Distinguished Young Woman program and encourage students around the state to become involved in their school and communities.
