PUTNAM — The Putnam Business Association announced a celebration of the creative entrepreneurship with First Fridays.
Putnam was recently named one of New England’s Best Small Towns by Boston Magazine.  The Putnam Business Association agrees. Citing its outstanding restaurants, antique shops, art studios and eclectic boutique shopping, PBA President Karen Osbrey said, “Putnam has become an attractive destination for locals and tourists alike. We have a thriving, artistic and cultural community in Putnam and we recognize the benefits and contributions of that creative energy.  That’s where First Fridays come in.  First Fridays are a celebration of that creative entrepreneurship that keeps Putnam fresh and exciting.”
The Putnam Business Association will sponsor First Fridays from May through December.  Putnam has already become a favorite destination for dining and live theater.  First Fridays will build on that foundation with some added features — live music, art shows and demonstrations, poetry slams, dance, public art and more.
First Fridays are scheduled for May 6, June 3, July 1, Aug. 5, Sept. 2, Oct. 7, Nov. 4 and Dec. 2.  They will feature all day dining and shopping specials, however, most events will begin at 5 p.m. Many stores will remain open till 8 p.m. or later.  She added, “ No two First Fridays will be alike and don’t be surprised when you are surprised.”
