WOODSTOCK — Robert A. Chaput, 66, of North Gate Road, died April 20, 2011, at home. He was the husband of Patricia (Lawyer) Chaput. Born Aug. 5, 1944, in Putnam, son of the late Arthur A. and Gertrude (Bernier) Chaput.
He lived in Putnam for most of his life, moving to Woodstock 26 years ago. A graduate of Putnam High School. Robert worked in data processing all his life, he worked for American Optical in Southbridge, for 16 years, Wang Labs in Chelmsford and Lowell, Mass., and TJX Corporate Co. where he retired from in 1998 due to illness. He was a racing pigeon enthusiast for over 40 years and belonged to the Worcester Homing Pigeon Club and RI Pigeon Club.
He leaves his wife Patricia; sons, Chad D. Ellis of Enfield, Billy Jo Chaput (Holly) of Woodstock; two daughters: Susan Sanford of Virginia, Bobby Jo Chaput of Florida;  brother, Richard Chaput of Florida; five grandchildren Colton and Peyton Sanford of Virginia, Danielle, Summer and Ryder Chaput of Woodstock; his best friend, Donald Hayes of Putnam.

Raymond Dufresne,

DANIELSON — Raymond H. Dufresne, 80, of Westcott Road, formerly of School Street, Putnam, died April 17, 2011, in Regency Heights.  Born in 1930 in Putnam, he was the son of the late Henry and Aldea Leona (Rickey) Dufresne.
Mr. Dufresne worked as a machinist for Pratt & Whitney.  He served in the Army National Guard of Connecticut and enjoyed deep-sea fishing and hunting.  He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan.
The Mass of Christian Burial was April 21 in St. Mary Church of the Visitation, Putnam,  with burial in St. Mary Cemetery.  Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church St., Putnam.

Theodore Langlois Jr.,
WWII vet
PUTNAM — Theodore I. Langlois Jr., 89, of Center Street, died April 19, 2011, at Regency Heights Nursing Home in Danielson. He was the husband of Marion (King) Langlois. They were married Dec. 12, 196,1 by Mervin Whipple.
He was born Oct. 2, 192,1 in St. Johnsbury, Vt, son of the late Theodore I. and Lucy (Lafontaine) Langlois. He was a crew chief, working for the Town of Woodstock Highway Department for over 25 years.
He was a veteran of WWII serving with the U.S. Army. He served with the Merrill’s Marauders in India and Burma. He was honorably discharged in 1945, and he received a Purple Heart.
He made his home in Putnam most of his life, a member of the Putnam VFW Post 1523. He enjoyed stock car racing and raced his own car #12 at local race tracks.
He leaves his wife of 49 years, Marion; sisters, Gloria Hickey of California, Adele Cole of Webster, Lucille Miller of Dayville; a daughter-in-law Susan Rich of Putnam; and a granddaughter, Tammy Hollingworth of Putnam. He was predeceased by a son Wayne Rich; siblings: Eva Vandale, Norman Langlois, Eugene Langlois.
The Funeral was April 23 at Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove St., Putnam, with burial with military honors in Elmvale Cemetery, Woodstock.

Arline V. Richard,

PUTNAM — Arline (Osborn) Richard, 83, originally of Pomfret Street, died April 24, 2011, in Matulaitis Nursing Home.  She was the wife of the late Joseph Gerard Richard who died in 1972.  They were married July 8, 1950, in St. Mary Church of the Visitation.
Born in 1928 in Chicopee, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Helen (Dybas) Osborn.
Mrs. Richard worked as a bookkeeper for her husband’s business, Richard Plumbing & Heating.  She enjoyed sewing gifts for her family. She was a communicant of St. Mary Church.
She leaves her son, James Richard (Linda) of Putnam; daughters, Mary Ann Pezanko (Peter) of Putnam, Denise Bates (Michael) of Putnam; sister Mary Ann Davis of Pomfret;  grandchildren, Dana Stucke, Kera Morissette, Jody Bates, Jason Bates, and Sara Mayo; 10 great-grandchildren.  She was predeceased by her brother, John Osborn; and her sister, Alice McLaughlin.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 27 in Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church St., Putnam.  A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 1 p.m. in St. Mary Church of the Visitation, with burial in St. Mary Cemetery.  Donations: Daily Bread, 53 Grove St, Putnam, CT 06260.

POMFRET CENTER — Winthrop E. Lyon, 77, of Youngs Road, died April 23, 2011, in Westview Healthcare.  He was the husband of Marsha (Meader) Lyon. Born in 1933 in Willimantic, he was the son of the late Rolfe and Clara (Barton) Lyon.
Mr. Lyon worked for John M. Dean while serving as assistant fire chief for the W. Thompson Fire Department before leaving in 1970 to start his own construction company, Lyon Construction.  He enjoyed music, traveling, his pets.
In addition to his wife, he leaves daughters, Debra Castonguay (Jack) of Thompson, and Denise Briere (Albert) of Putnam; son, Dennis Lyon (Denise) of Plainfield; step-son Donovan Fickett of Pomfret; step-daughter Jillian Fickett of Oak Bluffs, Mass.; sister, Patricia Marquis (Henry) of Putnam; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. April 28 in Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church St., Putnam.  A gathering will begin at 10 a.m. April 29 followed by a funeral service in the funeral home at 11. Genevieve Racine,

DANIELSON — Genevieve Racine, 92, of Westfield Village, died April 19, 2011, at Westview Nursing Home in Dayville.
She was born on June 2, 1918, in North Dartmouth, Mass., daughter of the late Marion and Deolinda (Correia) Leite. She attended the Killingly schools. She worked at Royal Robes in Plainfield as a stitcher.
On Sept. 2, 1939, she was married to Napoleon Racine in St. Joseph Church Dayville by Father Mathieu. In 1950 she went to work at Rogers Corporation as a press operator, a position she held until her retirement in 1980. She was a communicant of St. Ignatius Church. She loved dancing and as a senior she took lessons and taught dancing.
She leaves a son, Ronald Racine of Attawaugan; two daughters, Joyce Ricci of Danielson and Sandra Poirier of Brooklyn; a brother, Valmore Leite of Austin, Texas; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was predeceased by a brother Manuel Leite and three sisters Rose Hewitt, Beatrice Cooper, Olinda Souza and a favorite son-in-law Sam Poirier.
A Prayer Service was April 21 at St. James Church, Danielson, with  burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Danielson. Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds St., Danielson.

DANIELSON – Robert A.”RJ” Thornton Jr., 15, of Danielson, died April 18, 2011, in Canterbury. He was born Aug. 22, 1995, in Putnam, son of Robert A. Thornton Sr. of Danielson and Maryellen (Parker) Frechette of Canterbury. RJ was a freshman at Killingly High School. He enjoyed BMX biking, skateboarding and scootering at Owen Bell Skate Park. Besides his parents he leaves his maternal grandmother Claire Cicillini of Dayville; stepmother Beth Hedges of Danielson; sisters, Erica Gervais (Benjamin) of Danielson and Dawn Thornton of Rogers; stepsister Tara Smith of Putnam; stepbrother Kevin Rogers of California.  Donations: His family to help with funeral expenses, c/o Tillinghast Funeral Home, P.O. Elizabeth Martel,

WOODSTOCK — Elizabeth M. Martel, 80, formerly of Woodstock, died April 21, 2011, at the Westview Nursing Center, Dayville. She was born March 24, 1931, in Putnam, daughter of the late Polidore and Marion (Bateman) Aubin.
She was a 1949 graduate of Rockville High School, and was employed for over 25 years at US Button in Putnam.
She leaves her children: Betty Brisson of Dayville, Joann Martel of Putnam; Robert Martel (Terry) of Garland, Texas, Joseph Martel (Donna) of Woodstock, Roger Martel (Annette) of Woodstock, Norman Martel (Tina) of Woodstock; two sisters: Pricilla Combies of Moosup, Loretta Sheldon of Thompson; 16 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by three sons, Delphis Martel Jr., Ronald Martel, Gary Martel; a granddaughter, April Brisson; three brothers, Franklin Aubin, Theodore Aubin and Thomas Aubin.

Armand Guilmont Sr.
Army vet
DAYVILLE — Armand Edward Guimont Sr., 70, of Hartford Pike, died April 21, 2011. He was the son of the late Ovide and Lena (Gamelin) Guimont. He attended St. James School and then began work as an apprentice carpenter with his father.
He joined the Army in 1963 and was honorably discharged in 1965. He married Marjorie (Margie) Lagace on Aug. 7, 1965. She died 4, 1977. Armand worked at Crystal Water Company for many years until he decided to go back to carpentry work. Armand worked with the utmost integrity, pride and passion. Armand’s father instilled impeccable work ethic, conscientiousness and perfection.
He leaves daughter, Lynn Liebscher (Lawrence);  son, Armand E. Guimont Jr., four grandsons, Curtis, Ryan, Kyle and Thomas Liebscher;  sister, Arlene Renaud; three brothers, Richard, Norman and Ronald; brother-in-law, Francis Lagace. Calling hours are 9 to 10 a.m. April 30 at Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds St., Danielson, followed by a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. James Church, Danielson, with burial in Holy Cross Cemetery with military honors.
