For 37 years Performing Arts of NE CT brings in the Boston Lyric Opera for a one-hour version of a classic opera to fifth graders. Educators and students were invited to see performances in Woodstock and Mansfield. This year’s production of "Hansel & Gretel" introduced the ultimate art form with performances that were entertaining and included four students from local schools in the finale.
For the fifth consecutive year, third grade students experienced an unforgettable orchestral performance of Peter and the Wolf by the New Haven Symphony. Under the direction of world renowned conductor, William Boughton, students learned how music can be used to tell a story. Before performances schools take part in an artist in-school program from the BLO and NHSO. Combined, the two programs are offered free to local students.
