PUTNAM --- Thirteen businesses in the Special Service District Aug. 30 were checked for compliance with state laws concerning the sale of tobacco products to minors and all 13 passed, according to the Putnam Police Department.
The department, in cooperation with the state Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, Tobacco Prevention and Enforcement Program, conducted unannounced compliance inspections of establishments selling tobacco products. An underage youth, employed by the Tobacco Prevention and Enforcement Program, entered the establishments and attempted to purchase tobacco products.
The following establishments passed: Rite Aid – 203 Kennedy Dr.; Putnam Spirits – 249 Kennedy Dr.; Price Chopper – 189 Kennedy Dr.; Sam’s Food Store – 303 Kennedy Dr.; Uncle Dan’s Wine, Beer and Booze – 347 Kennedy Dr.; Sunny Discount Liquor – 150 Providence St.; Putnam Supermarket – 162 Providence St.; Cumberland Farms – 171 Woodstock Ave.; Best Way Food & Fuel – 146 Church St.; Wine Cellar Spirit Shop LLC – 141 Pomfret St.; Twin Stop – South Main Street; Xtra Mart – 162 School St.; Godley Spirits – 15 Mechanics St.
