Do you have
your green lights?
For the past few months, The Last Green Valley has been gearing up for its Green Light Celebration Jan. 14 - Feb. 12. For more information please visit: http://www.tlgv.org/resources/green-light-campaign.html
Green light bulbs can still be purchased at local hardware stores including Aubuchon’s, Benny’s and True Value, as well as at Lowe’s, Home Depot and Target. However, strings of green lights are a bit more difficult to acquire locally now that the holiday season is over - Bonneville Pharmacy in Danielson has a limited selection.
Thus far the following businesses have contacted us with their ideas for participating: Arts & Framing in Putnam, is offering a 10% discount off any piece of Caroll Spinney’s original artwork and prints; Bella’s Bistro in Putnam, is offering a $5 “Green” Midori Martini, a Fried “Green” Tomatoes with Lobster Fra Diavolo Sauce appetizer and a dessert entitled Yummie Mummie’s - Mint Chocolate Chip Cupcake; Celebrations Shoppes & Galleries in Pomfret, is providing a 10% discount on select “green” merchandise and will be contributing 10% from the sale of these special items in support of The Last Green Valley, Inc.’s goal of becoming self-sustaining by 2015; First Niagra Bank, Danielson, has switched out exterior lights with green lights, and is displaying rack cards and a sign in its window; Putnam Bank branches will be adorned with green light displays; The Courthouse Bar & Grille in Putnam, is devising a “green” salad and dessert; Vintage to Vogue in Putnam, is offering a 50% discount on select glassware.
How you might consider participating: Create a window display using green lights; Prominently display the Green Light Celebration Rack Cards & Signs; Create “green” specials, like a green plate menu item, a green-tini cocktail, or a green light sales event; Offer discounts and other over-night specials at your bed & breakfast or hotel.
