Henrietta Lachapelle,

N. GROSVENORDALE — Henrietta Cecelia (Seney) Lachapelle, 105, formerly of Riverside Drive, died Jan. 13, 2012, in Matulaitis Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late George “Pat” Lachapelle. Born in 1906 in N. Grosvenordale, she was the daughter of the late Amedee and Josephine (Bellerose) Seney.
She was a member of the Tourtellotte Memorial High School Class of 1923. She and her husband owned and operated the employee cafeteria at Cluett-Peabody and later Pat’s News in N. Grosvenordale. She received a citation from FDR for her help with the rationing program during WWII.
Mrs. Lachapelle was also a homemaker. She was a communicant of St. Joseph Church and a member of Les Dames de Ste. Anne.
She leaves three daughters; Nathalie Schunick of Baltimore, Lorraine Blanchard of Fort Meyers Beach, Fla., and A. Aileen Witkowski of Thompson 13 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Henrietta’s family from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Jan 18 in the Valade Funeral Home, 23 Main St., N. Grosvenordale, followed by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, N. Grosvenordale. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Ethan James Slosek,

PLAINFIELD — Ethan James Slosek, infant child of Jason and Brenda (Cost) Slosek passed from this world on Jan. 12, 2012, in Putnam.
In addition to his parents, Ethan leaves two brothers, Deven and Logan; three sisters, Emily, Kaylee and Karissa; maternal grandparents, Nancy Delaere of Foster and Clifford Cost of Foster; paternal grandparents, Blaise Slosek of Salem, N.H., and Dawn Chesbrough of Branford.

Sister Gertrude
Bonin, DHS
PUTNAM — Sr. Gertrude Bonin, 98, a member of the Daughters of the Holy Spirit, died Jan. 15, 2012, in the Holy Spirit Health Care Center in Putnam where she had been a resident since 2009.
Sr. Gertrude was born on June 23, 1913, in Putnam, the daughter of the late Pierre-Emile and Edouilda (Guertin) Bonin. She held a bachelor’s degree in music from Manhattanville College of the Sacred Heart, Purchase, N.Y., and a master’s in music from Duquesne University, Pittsburg..
In 1932, Sr. Gertrude entered religious life in Putnam, and made her religious profession on Aug. 8, 1935, at the Motherhouse in St. Brieuc, France. She was then known as Sr. Emile de Jesus.
She was primarily a music teacher most of her religious life. Her first assignment as musician was in France at St. Anne, Quimper and later at Pré St. Gervais. In 1937, she was assigned to St. Alban in Pontypool, England. She returned to the U.S. in 1940 and continued to serve as musician in Connecticut at Wauregan and Jewett City and then in Burlington and Swanton in Vermont and then in New Haven. Following this, she taught in Leominster, Mass.. In 1956 she was one of seven sisters assigned to the opening of St. Bernard High School in New London where she taught music and French. She then served in Waterbury and from 1967-1980 she served as assistant professor of music at Annhurst College, Woodstock. In 1985, she returned to Putnam and served as church organist at St. Mary Church of the Visitation until 2007 when she retired to the Provincial House.
She leaves nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 18 in the Provincial House Chapel with a prayer service at 7:15 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Jan. 19 at the Provincial House Chapel with burial at St. Mary Cemetery, Putnam. Emma Hiser,

PLAINFIELD — Emma E. Hiser, 88, of Plainfield, formerly of Pittsfield, Mass., died Jan. 15, 2012, at Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam. Emma was born Aug. 18, 1923, in Adams, Mass. She was the wife of Edward Hiser.
Emma was a member of the Westfield Congregational Church in Danielson, a member of the Yankee Yesteryear Car Club “YYCC”, and she worked as a bookkeeper for many years.
Besides her husband: Edward; she leaves a son: Scott Hiser of Lexington, Mass.; daughter: Lynne McClements of Plainfield; two sisters Cora Dunn and Ruth Winchell of Florida.
A Memorial Service will be at 1 p.m. Jan. 21 in the Westfield Congregational Church, 210 Main St., Danielson. Burial is private. Donations: Westfield Congregational Church. Gagnon and Cotello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds St., Danielson.
Rita Mailloux,

N. GROSVENORDALE — Rita (Bellerose) Mailloux, 76 of Red Bridge Road, died unexpectedly Jan. 14, 2012, in Southbridge. She was the wife of the late Maurice Mailloux. Born in 1935 in Putnam, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mignonne (Metras) Bellerose.
Mrs. Mailloux worked as a lens polisher for American Optical in Southbridge. She enjoyed camping, painting ceramics, playing cards and bingo.
She leaves her son, Bruce Zulkiewicz of Danielson; three daughters, Brenda Zulkiewicz of Dudley, Michele Greene of Putnam, Christine Jaworski of Pomfret Center; brothers, Normand Bellerose of Pioria, Ariz., Paul Bellerose of Milton, Fla., Richard “Dickie” Bellerose of Yelm, Wash., and Bernard Bellerose of Thompson; six grandchildren and one great-grandson. She was predeceased by her grandson Jeffrey Greene and her sister Jeanne Ravenelle.
Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Jan. 20 in Valade Funeral Home, 23 Main St., N. Grosvenordale. A Mass of Christian Burial begins at 1 p.m. in St. Joseph Church, 18 Main St.. Rosalie Marois,

BROOKLYN — Rosalie F. (Ojala) Marois, 65, of Brooklyn, lost her battle with cancer on Jan. 10, 2012. She was born March 14, 1946, in Putnam, daughter of the late Julia B. and Eino Ojala.
Besides her husband Gerard L. Marois of Brooklyn, she leaves behind four children: Robert Marois of Manchester, Lisa Marois of Brooklyn, Marie Briere of Brooklyn, Michael Marois Etman of Norwich, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Marois was retired, but had previously worked at Danielson Curtain, Hale Manufacturing and Westview Health Care. She was an avid cook, baker and gardener.

Edna Sparling,

THOMPSON — Edna F. (Place) Sparling, 88, died Jan. 10, 2012, in Matulaitis Nursing Home, Putnam. She lived with her daughter, Joan, in Thompson.
Born in Burrillville, she was the daughter of the late William and Leah (Mowry) Place. She worked as a clerk at the former Speidel in E. Providence before retiring in 1985.
She leaves a son, Russell Sparling Jr. (Celesta) of Las Vegas; daughter, Joan Lebkuchner (Benno) of Thompson; sister, Norma Bishop of Pascoag; three grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her brother William Place Jr. and two sisters, Wilma Giard and Brenda Merrill.
The Funeral was Jan. 14 with burial in Acotes Hill Cemetery, Chepachet. Boucher Funeral Home, Pascoag.
Barbara Caverly,

W. HARTFORD --- Barbara Ann Caverly, 73, of Vernon, formerly of Killingly, wife to James B. Caverly, died Jan. 8, 2012, at the Hebrew Home in W. Hartford.
She was born Oct. 25, 1938, in Putnam and graduated from Killingly High School in 1955. She and James married July 20, 1963.
Barbara worked in management at both the Danielson Shoe Store and Danielson Fruit Store before fully devoting her time to raising her three children. She was a fantastic cook who enjoyed reading.
In addition to her husband Jim, she leaves a daughter, Jeanne Marquis of Ballouville; two sons, James G. Caverly of Fort Myers, Fla., and Ronald G. Caverly of Lisbon; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, George and Beatrice Lewis; a brother George Lewis Jr.; two grandchildren.

N. GROSVENORDALE — Estelle L. (Girard) Christo, 86, of Pasay Road, died Jan. 9, 2012, at home.
Estelle was born in Central Falls, R.I., daughter of the late Edmond and Laura (Rock) Girard and lived in Smithfield, R.I., before moving to Thompson seven years ago.
She was a retired special needs teachers aide. Estelle was an avid bingo player.
She leaves her husband, Lino Christo; two daughters, Susan Pascale of Thompson and Karen Conroy of Chepachet; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Ronald Godin.
A Memorial Mass was Jan. 14 in St. Joseph Church, N. Grosvenordale. Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home, Webster.
Cora Albee
Jacobson
DANIELSON — Cora Irene Albee Jacobson, 98, of Maple Court died Jan. 10, 2012, at Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam.
She was born Oct. 6, 1913, in Danielson on October 6, 1913, daughter of the late Napoleon and Malvina (Provost) Perreault.
She was first married to Forrest Albee who died in 1975 and was later married to the late Charles Jacobson.
Mrs. Jacobson was a communicant of St. James Church and a graduate of St. James School.
She leaves her sons, Leonard Albee (Hazel) of Brooklyn and Ronald Albee (Marie) of Danielson; daughters, Kathleen Payne of Danielson and Rita Palazzo of Putnam; daughter-in-law Sandra Albee of S. Killingly; sister Jeannette Camara of Danielson, many grandchildren; especially her caregiver Jean Goldberg, many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter Rena Morrison and son James Albee.
A graveside service was Jan. 17 at Westfield Cemetery, Danielson. Tillinghast Funeral Home, Danielson.
