MANSFIELD --- Putnam Bank recently completed its $10,000 pledge to the Natchaug Hospital Extraordinary Care Appeal.
The Extraordinary Care Appeal began when Natchaug administrators recognized that the community’s inpatient child and adolescent psychiatric needs were not being met. Children often had to wait in emergency rooms, sometimes for days at a time, for beds to open in treatment facilities.
With the help of Putnam Bank’s generous donation, Natchaug raised $885,000 for the expansion of the inpatient child and adolescent unit. “Putnam Bank Foundation is pleased to make this final payment on our pledge to Natchaug Hospital and to support its mission of helping children and adolescents with psychiatric needs,” said Thomas A. Borner, chairman and CEO of Putnam Bank.
The renovated space, which includes three new bedrooms along with additional treatment and office space, opened in January 2008. Since then, hundreds of additional children have been helped thanks to the expansion.
Over the last five years, 130 of Natchaug Hospital’s child and adolescent inpatient clients came from a town with a Putnam Bank branch. As a result of this connection, Putnam Bank has remained one of Natchaug’s most charitable and consistent donors over the years.
“Both our staff and clients are incredibly appreciative of Putnam Bank’s generosity towards Natchaug Hospital over the years,” said Natchaug CEO Steve Larcen. “The support of Putnam Bank has been and will continue to be integral in providing excellent behavior health care to the people of Eastern Connecticut.”
