PSA takes 2 out of 3 games
PUTNAM --- The Putnam Science Academy boys' basketball team had an excellent run last week, winning two out of three matches.
Last week, in Barrington, R.I., it was the lowest scoring game of the year for the Mustangs (15-8), who normally average over 72 points per contest, but they pulled out the win in the defensive battle, beating St. Andrews 47-33. Oscar Assie had 13 points and four rebounds to pace Putnam Science, while Dayshon Smith dished out seven assists and had three steals to go along with his seven points.
Feb. 7 Putnam Science Academy won over Brimmer & May by a 73 to 42 score in Chestnut Hill, Mass. Shaun Lawton scored a game-high 20 points in addition to six rebounds, three assists and three steals to lead Putnam Science Academy on the road. Dayshon Smith added 13 points, five steals and four assists, and Keon Scott contributed 13 points and nine boards for the Mustangs (15-7). Tyree Robinson chipped in 11 rebounds for PSA.
On Feb. 2 Putnam Science took care of Proctor Academy by a score of 70 to 32. The Mustangs' Keon Scott scored 11 points and grabbed seven rebounds and teammate Shaun Lawton added 11 points, seven assists and three steals to pace Putnam Science (13-8). Dayshon Smith contributed 14 points, eight rebounds and three assists.
Feb. 1 PSA was beaten by Brewster Academy 88-50 in Wolfeboro, N.H., Oscar Assie posted 22 points, eight rebounds and two steals for the Mustangs, but they couldn’t stay with prep powerhouse #1 ranked Brewster Academy (20-0). Tyree Robinson added 10 points for Putnam Science (12-7).
