Former collegiate
lacrosse star
begins girls’
program for
Rectory
POMFRET — New seasons bring new coaches and new experiences to The Rectory School. With the winter sports season coming to an end, there is excitement on campus with the hype of a girls’ lacrosse program in the making by former collegiate lacrosse star, Brittany King.
King began playing the game of lacrosse at 9 and soon developed a passion for the sport, joining independent club teams that competed all over the world. A four-year varsity letter winner at Proctor Academy, King fulfilled the role of captain her senior year while receiving both the prestigious Coaches’ and MVP awards.
King enrolled at Wheaton College where she was a four-year player for the Lions. While at Wheaton, King was more than an athlete on the lacrosse field. During her junior year, she entered an NCAA Artist Athlete competition and was selected from thousands of applicants across North America to travel to Washington D.C. to display her artwork. She was the recipient of the Coaches’ Award in May of 2010 as well as an athletic mentor, assisting team members with academic, athletic, and personal matters.
“Team sports have always been a big part of who I am. I feel honored and excited to begin a girls’ lacrosse program here at Rectory and believe that team sports provide a wonderful opportunity to foster friendships while also competing,” said King.
Laura Lokitis, former varsity lacrosse coach at the Hyde School, will assist her.
