Photo Trip
Seven Marianapolis Preparatory School students traveled to Maine during the week of March 5 to get a hands-on lesson about photography. As part of the school’s Experience Spring Learning Week, the students, accompanied by faculty members Robert Rawcliffe and Kellie Ryan, learned the fundamentals of photography, including aperture, shutter speed and viewpoints. The group traveled 1,014 miles of the picturesque Maine coastline, photographing coves, shorelines, islands and seven different lighthouses along the way. They visited Reverse Falls and Quoddy Park, the easternmost part of the contiguous U.S.The group traveled through Bangor and Augusta, stayed in Bar Harbor and Freeport before visiting Portsmouth on the way back. Students involved in the trip were seniors Margaret Dalton-Hoffman, Chelsea Freischlag, Marissa Iamartino, Jessica Kibbe, Jonathan Williams and Eric Teixeira. Other trips during Experience Spring Learning Week included aiding those affected by tornadoes in Appalachia and a hiking trip of the Appalachian Trail. Courtesy photo.
