Academy fills
three fall
coaching slots

WOODSTOCK — Filling coaching positions on the high school level appears to be a difficult task in recent years.  Many schools have witnessed a revolving door in their athletic departments and have had to go outside their systems to fill the holes.
Woodstock Academy has announced the hiring of three varsity coaches for the upcoming fall sports season putting them in an envious position.  According to Academy Director of Athletics Chris Coderre, Jessie Pimental will take over the football program, while Jared Morse will be the new boys’ soccer coach and Dennis Snelling Jr. will assume the same position in the women’s program.
Pimental Assumes Gridiron Position
The Woodstock Academy football program, which is still trying to find a winning combination, has hired an experienced individual in the person of Brooklyn resident Jessie Pimental to succeed outgoing coach Gary Brine.  Pimental brings playing and coaching experience to the position.
A graduate of Salve Regina University in Newport, R.I., Pimental was a four-year starter at the Division III program.  During his collegiate career he gained leadership experience as captain of the Salve Regina eleven, where he also earned all conference honors and was the team’s defensive MVP from his linebacker position.
His sideline experience includes serving as linebacker coach at his alma mater.  Most recently he served on the Killingly High School staff as varsity assistant under coach Chad Neal.  He’s also had high school and middle school coaching experience at schools in Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
Morse Coming Home
Jared Morse, one of the most talented and prolific soccer players to wear the Woodstock Academy “blue and gold,” is coming home to coach the boys’ soccer team.  Morse, who earned all-state and all-conference honors as a Centaur booter, succeeds outgoing coach Jason Gerum.
In assuming his new role, Morse is fortunate to have a great deal of familiarity with the program.  Last season he served as the team’s assistant coach and during the past five seasons has been around for special assignments in working with the Centaurs.  The Woodstock resident has also gained coaching experience working with the NECONN Youth Soccer Program.
Following his graduation from Woodstock in 1992, Morse moved on to the University of Maine in Orono, where he was a member of the Black Bears soccer squad.  He holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Maine.
