Greater Hartford YMCA CEO James Morton, above, which is partnering with the proposed Regional Community Y in Putnam, announced at the Healthy Kids Day that a donation of $50,000 was recently made to the project, and that donation will be matched by an offer from an anonymous donor. That donor will match up to $250,000 in donations made before June 30. If the full $250,000 is matched, Morton said, the tally of $1.7 million already collected in the community fund-raising portion, would go up by $500,000, to $2.2 million, within striking distance of the $2.5 million goal. Morton also promised that "THIS community will help develop THIS Y." Funds raised through state and local donations total more than $9 million. When the figure hits $10 million the Greater Hartford Y recently voted to kick in $2.5 million to get to the $13 million total goal.
