The Pomfret Senior “B” Lacrosse team finally met its match against a determined Longmeadow team and dropped its first game of the season by the score of 6-7.  The Pomfret squad was playing with only four subs and ran out of gas in the fourth quarter.  Goal scores on the day were Tucker Johns with three and Cris Rovero, Quinn Stevenson and Robert Totten each with one.
Rebounding against the team from South Windsor on May 9, a full squad easily dominated play and came away with an 11-4 victory.  Pomfret went up 5-0 at the half on three goals by Evan Cunningham, one by Tucker Johns and one from Cahan Quinn.  South Windsor would get two back to start the second half , but Cunningham would get his fourth of the day right before the end of the period to make the score 6-2.  The fourth quarter saw a number of different players record goals, as Johns (2), Robert Totten, Cris Rovero and Cunningham would offset two scores by South Windsor to secure the victory.
On May 11, the team traveled to Wilbraham to take on their Senior “B” team, and although the score was 1-1 midway through the second quarter, Pomfret found its scoring touch and went into the half up 4-1.  Evan Cunningham was credited with all four goals.  In the third quarter Pomfret would out-gun Wilbraham four goals to two, and in the last stanza the teams would tally one each.  The five Pomfret goals in the second half were shared between Cunningham and Tucker Johns.
To complement the players in the scoring column, a strong defensive squad of Lex Bosio, Josh Bernier, Mason Defocy, Conor Quinn and Jake Phaneuf has been solid in front of goalie Jonathan Hummer. Controlling the ball in the attacking end of the field have been Cal Wilcox, Bruce Dexter, William Liscomb, Jake Mueller and Zach Gagnon.  The tireless midfield crew of Johnny Currie, Chapin Cheney, Kyle Prouty, Max Paro, Isaiah Price, Ryan Black and Sam Paul have all added to the success of the team.
Pomfret will take its 9-1-1 record on the road this week with games against Somers and Glastonbury.
