The much anticipated wedding of Kalin Borner, daughter of Atty. Thomas and Kathy Borner of Pomfret and Jeffrey Bousquet, son of Kate Bousquet of Putnam and the late Steve Bousquet, did not disappoint the more than 235 guests in attendance, which included the grandparents of the bride, Gyula and Kathy Varga. The June 9, 2012, ceremony on the impeccably manicured grounds at The Inn at Woodstock Hill was blessed with a perfect New England day, sunny skies, warm temperatures and a slight cooling breeze.
The nuptial ceremony, officiated by Justice of the Peace Gary Osbrey of Putnam, had all the trappings of a Hollywood wedding of two celebrities or a royal affair made for a prince and a princess. Osbrey was perfect as the Officiant, reminiscing briefly about how the couple originally met and arrived to the moment of their vows.
The exchange of vows was simple, spiritual and sincere. The bride and her party wore off-white ballroom gowns. The groom and his attendants wore summer light brown suits. Kalin Borner was assisted by Maid of Honor Chelsea Weiss and bridesmaids Jennifer Bousquet-Weeks, sister of the groom, and Pamela Gerardi. Jeffrey Bousquet was attended by Best Man Dennis Beauregard and groomsmen Kyle Borner, brother of the bride; Frank Dzerkacz, William King, Jack Reeves.
Following the exchange of vows, guests were greeted and then made their way to the outdoor patio where hors d’oeuvres and cocktails were served prior to dinner.
Dinner was held under a massive tent. The menu included first course, Caprese salad — fresh mozzarella, basil, tomatoes, grilled asparagus drizzled with aged balsamic vinegar and extra virgin oil.
The entrée was a filet mignon, ala Chef Richard Naumann, with fresh roasted vegetables and scalloped potatoes, paired with baked lobster stuffed with scallops, shrimp, brandy and Romano cheese. A vanilla cupcake with fresh strawberry was the dessert of the occasion.
Prior to the commencement of dinner, Maid of Honor Chelsea Weiss, a lifelong friend of Ms. Borner, reminisced about the dreams the pair shared growing up, culminating in words of congratulations to the couple. Dennis Beauregard regaled the guests with stories and advice for the couple but primarily aimed at his friend, Jeff. His words were followed by a champagne toast.
Guests were encouraged to go to the “smile for the camera booth” for photos that were included in the bride and groom’s wedding album. Guests danced to an upscale DJ and vocalist. Promptly at 9 p.m. guests were ushered back to the patio for a 15-minute July 4th -type fireworks display, which lit up the skies over Woodstock.
Upon departure guests received a sapling, which they were urged to plant and watch grow as a remembrance of the love and growth in the lives of the new Mr. and Mrs. Bousquet.
