The week began on July 3 with a pre holiday trip to Pomfret for the Putnam Juniors. Josh Allard took the mound for Putnam and Conor Hanlon for Pomfret. The two had dueled in the past and both teams knew what they would be facing today. Putnam jumped out to an early 3-0 lead when Kyle Ciquera doubled with the bases loaded in the first inning, plating three runs. All seemed well for Putnam when they entered the bottom half with the lead. It was the last lead they would hold all game. A few defensive errors, some poor base running and the fact that they could not hit Hanlon added up to an 8-3 loss.
July 5 games resumed and Putnam had to travel, again, this time to face the vaunted Norwich team. Allard again took the mound and was lifted after 3 innings with Putnam losing 6-3. Steven Dakai took the hill for Putnam and cruised the rest of the way. Steven struck out 8 batters and walked only one.  Josh scored three times and drove in 2 more for Putnam. Brevon Harmon also scored three times and went 3-4 on the day. The game was halted due to darkness and resumed on Saturday morning with the score tied 9-9. Harmon scored the game winner in the top of the 7th on a deep drive by Nick Foucault. Putnam won 10-9 and stayed on the field to face Plainfield.
In the second half of the double header, Nick Foucault pitched a gem of a game striking out nine Plainfield players and holding a shutout into the fifth inning. He was relieved by Brevon Harmon who pitched two scoreless innings en route to a 9-0 win. Nick scored 3 runs, Josh Allard was 4-4. Zack Cutler, Shawn Audet, Kristian Burke and Brevon Harmon also scored for Putnam. Catcher Kyle Loomis called a flawless game and caught a runner in a pickle coming around third with Shawn Audet. He jumped from his box and ran down the runner, keeping the Plainfield team scoreless. The shutout kept Putnam in the tournament and another chance to advance to the championship.
July 10  a rematch between Putnam and Pomfret decided who goes to the District semifinals. Waiting for the winner will be either Killingly or Thompson. The loser gets to start summer vacation.
