The 28th Day Kimball Hospital Golf Classic at Tunxis Plantation Golf Club in Farmington went off without a hitch as 59 foursomes from throughout New England and New York teed off in support of surgical and emergency services. Organizers said the event is expected to net about $65,000.
The team of Roger Noll, Al Nelson, Dustin Haddad and Frank Villazante was as hot as the 90-plus degree temperatures on the course firing a 15 under par 57 on the par 72 Tunxis White Course in capturing the title.  The Noll foursome was in a fierce battle with two other foursomes who finished tied at minus 14, one stroke off the winning pace.
The second-place finishers by virtue of matching cards were the Gerardi Insurance group of Matt Desaulnier, Christian Sarantopolous, Kevin Cole and Brian Corriveau. They beat the show-place foursome of Ryan Salvas, Jared Meehan, Jeff Johnson and Jay Lachance.
Competition on the Green Course wasn’t as torrid as the White Course as Kevin Plouffe, Jeff Morris, Jay Ellis and Derek Brown manufactured a three-stroke victory over their closest competitors.  The winner finished at 13 under par posting a score of 59.  In second place at minus 10, was the group of Al Scavedra, Rich Caruso, Lou Ouellette and Bill McCarry.  In the show spot at six under par was the local foursome of Shawn McNerney, Ed Higgins, John Rauh and Mark Brouillard.
A new feature of this year’s event was a “middle of the pack” prize.  The winners on the White Course were Paul Wojtowicz, Mike McDonald, Millie Tiberii and Tom Sheard at six under par.  The Green Course mid-packers was the foursome of Charlie Paquette, Tim Morin, Paul Gallerani and Steve Dunn at two under par.
Wildcard winners, selected at random were Saslow Lufkin, Todd Thiesfeldt and Dan Conger on the White Course and Bob Smanik, Kirk Walhory, Bill Breen and Don Burnham on the Green Course.
“It was a great day on the course for everyone.  The weather was cooperative making for a smooth and organized event.  We’re so pleased with the turnout, as the proceeds will support our one-day and emergency services,” said Pamela Watts, director of Development.
In a special presentation, Watts and hospital CEO Bob Smanik presented David Conrad, president of Citizens National Bank, with an award signifying the bank’s 10th consecutive year as the Classic Platinum Sponsor.
Closest-to-the-pin winners were Jeff Johnson (4th hole); Dan Babiel (8th); Tom Harney (14th) and Josh Farmer (16th) on the White Course.  Green Course winners were Bob Chenail (5th); Roger Mercier (8th); Jay Ellis (12th); and Joanne Chenail (18th).  The foursome of Rene Morin, Bill Poirier, Don St. Onge and Tom Harney posted the only skin on the White Course with a birdie on the 14th hole.  Three teams shared the skins prize on the Green Course with the Plouffe foursome winning on the 2nd hole; the foursome of Jerry Beausoleil, David Coderre, Mike Richards and Bob Griffin taking the 1st hole; and Deidre Foisy, Michael Artiaco, Mike Bogner and Rebecca Jezierski winning a skin on the 17th hole.
