PUTNAM --- Aug. 3 will be the scene of the First Friday extravaganza held around downtown.
Music, art, food, special sales and more are scheduled.
"Take a Drum Ride," an interactive drumming rock and roll jam, will be presented by Bob Bloom between 7:15 and 7:45 . Guest artist Nichola Johnson will perform in dance with Bloom near the end of his show.
More music, this time in the form of band Sparkplug will play on the stage on Main Street starting at 6.
Artistic events include a reception from 6 to 9 p.m. at Sawmill Pottery with visiting artist Kate Oggel. She will give an artist's talk at 7:30. All welcome.
Arts & Framing brings the works of Tom Menard to Main Street. Tom paints acrylics on canvas portraying life in local towns in a past/present folk art style.
Silver Circle Gallery is showing Contemporary Landscapes through Aug. 12, featuring local artists including Shirley Bernstein, Mary Brooking, Ella Delyanis, Cathy Doocy, Ali Moshiri, Donald Munson, Kathi Packer, Lorna Ritz, Suzanne Rosendahl, and Josa Weatherwax. Additionally, Meb Boden from Meb’s Kitchenwares is holding a trunk show from 6 to 8 p.m. Every month Silver Circle Studio has featured artists in the Art Alley, sidewalk art demonstrations and/or workshops for kids. In the Art Alley between 85 Main and Bella’s work from local artists is on display. Also look for 24 artists/vendors/sponsors. Some artists do live demonstrations.
The Flying Carpet Studio has recently moved to Putnam from Woodstock. Come see their new digs and check out featured local bead artist, Anna Mancini. Also, Paul Toussant will be there with his fabulous photographs.
Always a surprise, be ready for this month's "Art Attack." Last month a 60-foot dragon was painted on the side of a building.
Food will include Working Girl Catering brings a large selection of dinner items. In addition, presented by Jessica Tuesdays, the whole street is now a beer garden.
