TLGV gets
$1,000 donation
SOUTHBRIDGE — Savers Bank has donated $1,000 to The Last Green Valley, Inc. (TLGV).  TLGV is the member-supported, non-profit organization working locally to preserve the irreplaceable land, water, and cultural resources of the Quinebaug and Shetucket Rivers Valley National Heritage Corridor, the last predominantly undeveloped green space in the coastal sprawl between Washington, D.C. and Boston.
As a local bank that has been in business for more than a century, Savers Bank prides itself in supporting programs that make our communities better, growing, and more vibrant places to live and work. These ideals make a partnership between TLGV, Inc. and Savers Bank a perfect match. “Savers Bank is happy to help an organization which works hard to protect our natural resources. Preserving our natural means far into the future requires action now and that is exactly what the TLGV is doing,” said Joseph Coderre, president and CEO of Savers Bank.
“It is a pleasure to partner with Savers Bank on projects that really make a difference for our towns, like our clean-ups.  We share a stewardship ethic,” said Charlene Cutler, TLGV executive director and CEO.
Recently, The Last Green Valley was able to provide funds to 14 organizations and towns to conduct Earth Month and River Cleanups at more than 17 different locations in the watershed.  To date, more than 800 volunteers, from young kids to senior citizens, have removed more than 9 tons of trash from our parks, trails, and waterways.  More river cleanups may be scheduled for the fall.
