The Connecticut Sons of the American Revolution and its partners have launched the new website www.revolutionaryCT.com. This project was funded in part by a grant from The Last Green Valley. A one-stop destination for historical information, the website is the home for Connecticut’s Revolutionary War people, places, and stories. Museums, libraries and archives, historical societies, and other great Revolutionary history are all accessible along with a calendar of events, blog, and photo gallery. Visitors and residents are encouraged to visit www.revolutionaryCT.com often as the site will be updated regularly.
The website is also home to a letterboxing trail featuring 13 historical sites. Individuals and groups can learn about the rich history of eastern Connecticut while enjoying a fast-growing pastime. Letterboxes are small, water-tight boxes containing a logbook and stamp. They are hidden in publicly-accessible places and clues are given to the location of the boxes. Once a box has been located, the letterboxer imprints his own special stamp into the logbook for the box as well as marking his own book with the stamp for the site.
