WOODSTOCK --- It’s not how much the contestants eat, it’s how they eat it that most impresses Annette Hamilton, the organizer of the South Stage entertainment at the Woodstock Fair.
“I like to see the way they approach it, how they plan to win because they all have a system and are prepared to compete – it’s fun to watch them,” Hamilton said.
The South Stage at the Woodstock Fair offers a wide variety of entertainment with local bands, food contests, family contests and eating contests over the course of the Fair which runs from Aug. 31 to Sept. 3.
The Youth Pizza Eating Contest will be held at 12:45 p.m. Sept. 1. There will be two age groups, those 8-to-12 years-old will compete first followed by a 13-16 year-old competition. That’s followed on Sunday by the Youth Chocolate Cream Pie Eating contest at 1:45 p.m. On Sept. 3, the adults and younger children get their chance. The Adult Pizza Eating contest (16-years-old and up) will be held at 11 a.m. followed by the Adult Blueberry Pie eating contest at 3:15 p.m. In between, there will be a Twinkie Eating Contest for those 7-9 and 10-12 years-old at 1:15 p.m. Fairgoers can sign up for the competitions on the day of the event.
There will also be toddler trots, wheelbarrow races, a diaper dash, three- legged races and a Little Dasher contest.
Cooking contests include the Fleischmann’s bread contest, the Ghirardelli chocolate championship contest and the Senior Sun Bonnet contest. To register go to www.Woodstockfair.com.

Other musical acts include the bands Still Pickin’, Yankee Dogs, Silver Dollar, Illusions, Truth and Rights, the Lindsey Moore band and Boys of the Town plus Jim Harvey’s solo act. Quest Martial Arts will also perform a demonstration of its skills.
