Kim A. Blackmar
PUTNAM — Kim A. Blackmar, 59, of Pomfret Street died Aug. 15, 2012, in Regency Heights of Danielson. Born in 1953 in Putnam, he was the son of the late Julian Blackmar and Jeanne (LaPearle) Brodeur.
Mr. Blackmar was a graduate of West Warwick High School. He worked as a floor worker for Hale Manufacturing and enjoyed watching sports.
He leaves his brother, Marc Blackmar of Enfield, N.H.; sisters, Mary Green of Laurenceburg, Tenn., and Lisa Fenton of Putnam; his great friends and caregivers, Bernie Gilbert of E. Putnam, and Diane Davis of Woodstock.

Nancy J. Wachter
WOODSTOCK VALLEY — Nancy J. Wachter, 67, of Woodstock Valley died Aug. 4, 2012, at Day Kimball Hospital, Putnam. She was the wife of Emory Wachter. They were married Aug. 9, 1963.
She was born Aug. 13, 1945, in Putnam, daughter of the late Arthur and Velma (Pecor) Pierce.
She lived in Woodstock Valley all her life and enjoyed quilting and crafting.
Nancy leaves two daughters: Willow Gaytan-Briere (Jamie) of Killingly, Rainnie Wachter (Ernie) of Putnam; grandchildren, Megan, Miranda, Savanah; a sister of the heart Leatha Roome of Putnam; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter Dawn Wachter who died in 2002 and her three siblings.

Jeannette I.
(Savoie) Doyle
DANIELSON — Jeannette I. (Savoie) Doyle, 89, of Danielson, died Aug. 16, 2012, at the William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich. She was the wife of the late Donald E. Doyle. He died April 7, 2012. They were married July 4, 1946.
She was born Aug. 17, 1922, in Pawtucket, R.I., daughter of the late Luis and Eleanor (Perreault) Savoie.
She was co-owner and operator of C & D Clean Up Service in Danielson with her husband. Jeannette also worked for Allied Control, and she was an avid New England sports fan.
She leaves her children Gary Doyle (Charlotte) of Danielson; Kathleen Mulford (David) of Brooklyn; grandsons Patrick Magalis and Sean Doyle. She was predeceased by a grandson Ryan Doyle; brothers Gene Savoie, Armand Savoie, Donad Savoie, sisters Cora Grenan, Dora Duval, Claire Poirier, Olive Piesecki, Rosa Bissonette and Alice Bissonette.

Roger L. Guertin
PUTNAM — Roger L. Guertin, 67, of Sabin Street, died Aug. 17, 2012, in St. Francis Hospital. He was the husband of Michelle (Liguz) Guertin.
Born in 1945 in Putnam, he was the son of the late Adelard and Rosa (Ethier) Guertin.
Mr. Guertin owned and operated Rogers Place for 10 years. After selling the restaurant, he went to work for Matulaitis Nursing Home. He served on the Putnam Fire Department and was a life member of the Putnam Elks. He enjoyed riding his Harley, playing cards with the boys at the Elks, wood working and golfing. He was an avid New York Yankee’s and New York Giants fan.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his son, Brian Guertin of Putnam, daughter Heather Hryzan (William) of Pomfret Center; his sister in-law Theresa Guertin of Putnam; nieces and nephews. Roger was predeceased by his brother Jean Guertin.

Laurie (Gibson) Ryder,
Putnam native
HAMPDEN, Mass. — Laurie L. (Gibson) Ryder, 55, of Hampden, formerly of Putnam, died Aug. 9, 2012, at Kindred Hospital Park View in Springfield, Mass., after an illness.
Born in Putnam, Mrs. Ryder attended Putnam public schools and the former Putnam Catholic Academy and was a former member of the Living Faith United Methodist Church in Putnam.
She was at the time of her death a police dispatcher in Hampden. She was also a retired Hampden police officer.
A dedicated animal lover and an accomplished, lifelong horsewoman, Mrs. Ryder was an equestrian gymkhana and barrel racing champion.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Tricia Cloutier, who died earlier this year.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Aug. 24, in the chapel at the Daughters of the Holy Spirit Provincial House, 72 Church St., Putnam. Her family and friends are invited to attend.
Marine Corp. Kevin
A Dabrowski
WEBSTER — Marine Corporal Kevin A. Dabrowski, 24, of Camp Lejeune, N.C., died Aug. 11, 2012, in South Carolina from injuries sustained in a tragic car accident while he was returning home with his son for a two-week visit.
He was born on Dec. 11, 1987, in Worcester and raised in Webster. He graduated from Bartlett High School in 2006 and was in the ROTC. He volunteered as an auxiliary firefighter for the Webster Fire Department for two years. He then fulfilled his childhood dream of entering the U.S. Marine Corps in 2006.
Corporal Dabrowski was currently the first squad leader of the Third Platoon Bravo Company, 1/9 Walking Dead. He served his country for six years during which he was deployed on three tours of duty: Iraq, Afghanistan and on the USS Mesa Verde. He was honored that his next assignment was to include attending jump school this fall. He was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Navy Unit Commendation, the National Defense Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal, the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon and the NATO ISAF Medal. His fellow marines nicknamed him D-BO.
Kevin enjoyed barbecuing his famous ribs, flying remote control planes, being in the outdoors, mudding and listening to country music.
He leaves his parents, Alan A. and Jean E. (MacManus) Dabrowski of Webster; a son, Garrett A. Dabrowski, age 2; two sisters, Kimberly Penney (Joel) of Webster and Korey Dabrowski and her fiancé Curtis Grey of Enfield; a niece Mia and a nephew Michael. He was preceded in death by a son Jake.

Julia Mercurio
PUTNAM — Julia A. (Ellison) Mercurio, 68, died Aug. 13, 2012, at home.
Julia was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Berry) Hamilton and lived in New York for most of her life, moving to Putnam two years ago. She was a valet dispatcher at Foxwoods Casino and at the Mohegan Sun Casino. She enjoyed bowling and was a member of the National Women’s Bowling League.
She leaves her husband of 46 years, Peter R. Mercurio Sr. of Putnam; two sons, Peter R. Mercurio Jr. of Pawcatuck and James A. Mercurio of Putnam; one daughter, Joanne Mercurio of Pawcatuck; 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service will be at 4 p.m Aug. 24 in the First United Methodist Church, 23 Willow St., Mystic. Private graveside services will be held in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Pawcatuck. Donations: Hospice of NE CT, 320 Pomfret St., Putnam, CT 06260. Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home, Webster.
Sabrina A. Curtis
BROOKLYN — Sabrina Ann Curtis died Aug. 10, 2012, at home, after a 24-year battle with cancer.
She was born June 12, 1967, one of seven children born to the late Sharon (Crawford) Curtis, father Arthur Curtis and stepmother Dawn Curtis. Sabrina enjoyed drawing, listening to music, gardening, spending time with her cat, Spaz.
She leaves brothers and sisters, Stephanie Birch, Amber Stover, Audra Curtis, Jamie Bradley, Wesley Curtis, and Nicole Curtis; sons, Marshall, Tremayne, Dustin, and David; grandchildren, Noah, Alyvia, and Skylynne; the love of her life, Johnny Tetreault; dearest friend, Tylease Oates.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Aug. 26 at her home, 6A Front St., Brooklyn.
