Bruno J. Gilbert
WEBSTER — Bruno J. Gilbert, 76, died peacefully at home on Jan. 13, 2026, after an illness.
He was born on Oct. 9, 1949, in Megantic, Quebec, Canada the son of Armand Gilbert and moved to Bristol in 1956. He was a graduate of Bristol-Eastern High School, attended Central Connecticut State College and then completed the course of study at the Porter School of Design in Connecticut.
Mr. Gilbert was a builder and developer for many years, operating Gilbert Homes Inc. of Bristol and Thompson before retiring.
He was active member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Danielson where he served as assistant moderator.
He enjoyed building anything, being on Webster Lake, boating, water skiing and snow skiing. He was a former member of the B.P.O.E. Lodge number 1010 in Bristol.
He leaves his wife of 47 years, Donna M. (Gomes) Gilbert; children, Lisa M. Bernardino (Nuno) of Portland and Joseph R. Gilbert (Charleen Amato) of Billerica, Mass., plus Temple K. Barna of Woodstock; his mother, Marie-Marthe (Doyon) Larson of Bristol; two sisters, Diane McGivney (partner Armand), and Denise Bellini (Francis), all of Bristol; four grandchildren, Austin Gilbert, Harmony Barna, Payton Barna and Leonel Bernardino; one great-granddaughter; his mother-in-law, Carol Gomes of Webster; He predeceased by his stepfather Paul Larson.
A Celebration of Life will be held at noon Jan. 31 in the Cornerstone Baptist Church, Danielson. There are no calling hours. Donations: Cornerstone Baptist Church, 247 Broad St., Danielson, CT 06239. Scanlon Funeral Service, Webster.
