POMFRET — After a tough start to the week with losses to Deerfield Academy (Deerfield, Mass.) and Rivers School (Weston, Mass.), the Pomfret School varsity field hockey team pulled out a 2-1 win at Hopkins School of New Haven Sept. 21.
Cate Gallagher ’22 tied the game at 16:33 in the first half with an assist from Brooke Zahansky ’22 (Pomfret).
With 5:19 remaining in the game, Grace Arsenault ’20 took a centering pass from Hannah Leachman ’20 off a corner insert from Hannah Twombley ’21 for the game winner.
Pomfret dominated in the circle with a 14- 6 shot advantage and a 13 - 5 corner advantage, but struggled to find the back of the net.
Pomfret moves to 2-2 on the young season and heads into another three-game week.
