$25,000 awarded to Pomfret library
POMFRET — The Centreville bank Charitable Foundation recently awarded the Pomfret Public Library $25,000 to support the construction of an addition to its existing facility. The addition will double the library’s footprint, providing much-needed space for children’s and family programming and community rooms.
“We’re very grateful for the contribution of the Centreville Bank Charitable Foundation towards the building addition at Pomfret Public Library,” said Laurie Bell, library director, Pomfret Public Library.
“We began our plan to add space for library programs and community meeting rooms just prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, and it was a setback to find that construction costs are now roughly twice what they were in our initial 2018 estimate!  With the generosity of Centerville Bank Foundation, and other local donors, we are confident that we will soon be able to bring our building plans to fruition and expand our library services to the community.”
