PHS softball
suffers shutouts
PUTNAM --- April 15  the Putnam girls' softball team played a very good Stonington high school team, and Stonington won the game 22-0.
Although the score didn’t show it Putnam played very well only committing 1 error. “Our defense is getting better. We are not making the little mistakes like we did in our 1st couple of games. Now we just need to start hitting the ball better," said head coach Steve Smith.
Erica Anderson’s great catch with two outs in the bottom of the 4th inning saved three runs from scoring, Smith said. Putnam is now 2 and 3 on the season and played Killingly April 20.  April 14  the girls  played New London High School at New London. Putnam was hanging in there after five innings only down 5-0, when, in the bottom of the sixth with two outs, New london broke the game open by scoring six runs on their way to an 11-0 victory, according to Smith.
