The Pomfret Youth Lacrosse Boys’ Junior team travelled to West Hartford June 4 and came home with a hard fought 5-3 loss. Max Paro stepped into the goal for the first time this season and played an excellent game, finishing with seven saves.
The defense of Lex Bosio, Chris Rovero, Jacob Phaneuf, and Josh McFadden were strong all game, limiting West Hartford to few scoring opportunities. PYL was able to maintain possession of the ball with strong faceoff work from Evan Cunningham and Cahan Quinn.
Pomfret outshot West Hartford 15 – 12 in the game, but could not put one past a strong goalie. West Hartford struck first just five minutes into the game for the only goal of the first quarter. Three minutes into the second quarter, Tucker Sheehan scored his first of two goals on a feed from Peyton Duran. The first half ended deadlocked at one.
Pomfret struck first in the third quarter when Corbin Schneider snuck in a bounce shot from the wing. The assist went to Nick Allesandro.
West Hartford tied the game with one minute remaining the third quarter. The home team went up just 1 minute into the fourth quarter but Sheehan tied it two minutes later with an assist from Cunningham. West Hartford scored the game winner with three minutes remaining and added an insurance goal with one minute left after a hard bounce shot eluded the rock-solid Paro. Pomfret falls to 2-2 on the season while West Hartford improves to 5-3.
